Actual Black Chrome is similar to Bright Chrome in its application. The only difference being the last layer of chromium is actually treated to give it a blackened cast. The results are a lustrous dark appearance that shimmers in the light! Some metal finishers use ways to imitate the “look” of black chrome. A piece can be polished or bright chromed, and then a transparent black powder coat can be applied. Another is to use a process containing “burnt” nickel, and then applying a clear overcoat to protect the softer surface. Both methods can give the appearance of Black Chrome, but there is always the possibility of light and dark spots and a variation of color if parts are done at different times. While Sport Chrome can offer these faux methods, too, our Black Chrome is just that … Real BLACK CHROME! The look is always consistent and the appearance is very impressive, especially with the right paint scheme! |
